First StepS

Gather with others for regular worship of God.

  • Find a church service to attend, onsite or online. Go here to be part of Fairview’s weekly service.

  • Know someone who goes to church? Ask a friend, classmate, co-worker, neighbor or family member if you can go to the church with them. They’d be happy to take you!

Next Steps

Make weekly worship with others a priority.

Be active in worship through prayerful and focused participation in the service.

  • Be intentional about engaging in each part of the worship service. As you sing a hymn or listen to the choir, use the words of the song as your own prayer. Read ahead in the bulletin paying attention to words of prayers or responses and think about what they mean to you.

  • Commit to being part of a weekly worship service 3-4 times a month.

  • Read the scripture for the upcoming worship service, you can find it in the Sunday bulletin on our website each week.

Further Steps

Learn the meaning and intention of the parts of the worship service, and incorporate the experience of the worship service into the rest of the week. Be able to worship in a variety of styles and settings knowing that worship should be as varied as the gathered worship body.

  • Read the Worship Vision for Fairview.

  • Read more about Presbyterian Worship at the PC(USA) website.

  • As you worship each week, journal or write notes about how you will carry worship into your week. Is there a scripture that you can study further or pray through? Is there a song or piece of music that can listen to for inspiration each day? Was there a particular teaching from the sermon that you can put into practice?

  • When you are travelling use that as an opportunity to worship at a different church, or worship with Fairview online through our Facebook page.
