Paths of Discipleship

Discipleship?

Our hope is that every person at Fairview will become a disciple of Jesus and continue to grow in their discipleship. So what is a disciple? It’s originally a Greek word meaning, “a person who learns from another.” Jesus taught love, justice, peace, compassion, and living a life of meaning and purpose, and at Fairview, we want everyone to learn those things and to continue that learning their whole life.

Paths?

Christian faith and following Jesus aren’t things that can be measured or graded. But as disciples who seek to learn from Jesus, we want to keep moving forward in understanding and applying these lessons in our daily lives. It can be helpful to look practically at Christian discipleship using a series of “steps along the path” to give us goals to move towards in our faith.

How do I start?

Chances are, you’ve already started. Congratulations! But if you’d like to be more deliberate then click on any of the six paths in the colored boxes, read the steps, and then choose a step that you would like to begin with. Each path has three steps reflecting how we might progress as our spiritual life deepens. You may be taking your first step, or you may be looking to go further and deeper. It’s not important which step you are on, what matters is that you are taking the next step.

You can download a PDF of the paths and steps (not resources) here.
